Vote 'No!' to the Surveillance State
Vote 'No!' to the Surveillance State
People are outraged that the Obama administration used its most powerful spy agencies to create a secret national surveillance grid that completely profiles the communications and movements of every person in the country.
This constitutes the biggest surveillance program in world history.
The essence of democracy has been undermined and negated by a government that speaks in our name. It is time to rise up against the Surveillance State. Join people all over the country and Vote No!
The National Security Agency (NSA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other federal agencies used the Patriot Act to obtain secret warrants compelling Verizon to turn over data on every call. They tapped directly into the servers of the leading U.S. Internet companies, taking audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and more. All this is clear from the top-secret documents released by whistle-blowers and Glenn Greenwald of the Guardian.
Federal spy agencies under the direction of the Obama administration, with the knowledge and consent of the U.S. Senate, have conducted a secret spying program that has collected every bit of information about every American's phone calls, except the words actually exchanged in those calls. Sen. Saxby Chambliss admitted, "[E]very member of the United States Senate has been advised of this."
The Obama administration and the Senate have worked together to shred basic Constitutional rights. Without any suspicion of individual wrongdoing, they have a built a program that tracks whom Americans are calling, for how long they talk and from where—for every phone call.
In addition to communications, it has already been revealed that government surveillance and tracking of the population's physical movements is now routine. Federal and local law enforcement agencies, using Automatic License Plate Readers, have captured thousands of plates per minute, tracking law-abiding motorists day or night and recording the date, time, photos, and immediate area and GPS coordinates.
When the American people cast their votes in November 2012 for the President and Senate, they had no idea that these same officials were carrying out a massive spying operation against them. Who would have voted for an individual that had permitted the collection of data on every phone call and email they made?
We call for the abolition of this mass surveillance program.
In addition, every official and policymaker who knew of this surveillance program, and hid it from the electorate, has lost the legitimacy to hold office. They should resign, or be removed from office for their violations.
The people of the United States need to rise up against the surveillance state. The country's elite political leadership hid the national surveillance program during the elections, but today we vote 'No!'
