NYPD in Harlem arrest: excessive force and blocking legal filming

26 officers to arrest one man

The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund condemns the excessive and disproportionate use of force deployed by NYPD officers in an arrest yesterday at 135th St. and St. Nicholas Ave. In the B/C subway station, a young man was brutally arrested and an estimated 26 officers were called in to carry it out. They then illegally blocked bystanders from filming the arrest, and ushered them out of the station. During the arrest, one officer tells the other to "relax" while the young man being arrested has to put his leg up just so they don't slam his face into the wall. Witnesses counted twelve police cars around the station for the single arrest.
